I have partnered with Dr. Tandra Taylor to create an exciting new cultural experience in East St. Louis, Illinois.

The Interactive Historic Tour of 1917 East Saint Louis Race Riot!

I snapped a pic of us toasting to this new endeavor and the value it will add to our beloved “City of Champions”.

Here is a bit about Dr. Taylor:

Dr. Tan Taylor holds a Ph.D. in American Studies from Saint Louis University. As a history professor and DEIJ facilitator, Tan researches, writes, and teaches about the intersection of race and gender in American society for the past twelve years in classrooms and in communities. Tan focuses her work with students, teachers, administrators, business leaders, and community organizers to create programming that highlights the relationship between racism and educational inequalities and leads to solutions to address this critical problem.

For three days in July of 1917 white men and women attacked African Americans on the street and in streetcars, beat and shot blacks on the street indiscriminately, including women and children. Whites murdered between 39 and 150 African Americans. Another 6,000 Black people were left homeless, and the burning and vandalism cost approximately $400,000 ($8.46 million in 2021) in property damage. This horrendous event forced a national conversation about Race and Democracy.– Wikipedia

Dr. Taylor and I will be leading a powerful 2-hour visiting the Sacred Sites where atrocities occurred all while hearing the eye witness stories of survivors. Participants will also see areas of cultural, business, and religious interest.

Join us for this educational and thought provoking tour!
