Late in 2022 I finally started the non-profit that I had always dreamed of.

THE COMMUNITY ARCHIVE centers African American oral history collection and its mission is to “serve as a platform for arts education and a repository for collected creative wisdom.”

A few months ago we secured our first grant from Illinois Humanities and I JUST received notice of TCA’s OFFICIAL non profit — 501(c)(3) — status!

I am also proud to announce that TCA has a home on the web now — http://thecommunityarchive.org/ — and that you can donate there to support oral history collection and preservation.

The first project will be a podcast series that features the stories of descendants of survivors of the 1917 East St. Louis Race Massacre.

Join me in celebrating this milestone in my work as an artist and community culture keeper!
