Wishing all of you a great Black History Month! I’ve already led a poetry workshop that was very special.

If you look in the background of the photo below, you will see the poet Jericho Brown. I taught his poem “The Tradition” as part of an introduction to poetry workshop for YourWords STL.

Jericho and I have been friends for years and his book, also called The Tradition won the Pulitzer in 2020.

This is Jericho and I pre-pandemic when he came to St. Louis to read at WashU

Teaching my friend’s work was a real full circle moment.

On the 18th I will be teaching Culture Keeping: Womanist/Feminist Approaches To Community Archives And Memory Keeping for the THIRD time!

Join us at 5pm CST on February 18th!
